I had another round of having my insides looked at on my one month anniversary from having a stroke. I started noticing tingles, pressure and various parts of my body going numb so for safe measure I had an MRI / brain X-ray done. Mainly to make sure I didn't have new clots. Everything was clear and I was told one of the medications I was taking was causing these reactions.
The medication I was taken off of is Topiramate. Lots of side effects with this one and apparently I had almost every single one of them. Glad to be off of it now and hoping for it to pass through my system quickly. I'm also keeping this blog to keep up with the way I'm feeling, things I've noticed that are different, and also wins for me as I continue to recover. So far:
- Numbness, Tingles, and feet / hands / face going to "sleep."
- Some short term memory loss. I've noticed things need to be repeated to me or the pace at which people are talking needs to slow down so I can process adequately.
- I'm sleeping more during odd hours and my sleep has been broken up by bouts of waking up. I assume this comes with the territory of having a stroke and my body / brain recovering.
- Intense anxiety
All in all I hope things keep on the upswing and I can start to be more active without getting worn out so easily. Usually the more active I am, the harder I crash whenever I stop. I have an appointment with the doctor who performed my surgery on July 1st and I'm hoping to get some clarity as to why I had a stroke, what other symptoms I should expect and also things that I can do with the recovery process.
